The 130 members from Daejayon received letters of appointment as ICLEI supporters, from Seoul City!
Main Activities: Activating SNS press, promoting ICLEI, conducting environmental campaign, supporting and participating in major events related with ICLEI, joining and volunteering for the general meeting.
Flash mobs, SNS press activities, and campaigns on various subjects based on the eight agendas of ICLEI by 22 teams had continued since the ICLEI University Student Supporters Launching Ceremony on Feb. 12.

The campaign “Roof gardening” by team 17 and the campaign “Eat local food and use your own mug” by team 21 were easily applicable to our daily lives. Also, team 4 and team 13 carried out the activities that required some special expertise for their campaigns, “Current condition of smart infrastructure & future direction” and “Low-carbon city with green house gas emission reduction policies in urban planning and investment.”
Team 18 drew people’s attention with a creative campaign; they inspired citizens to save electricity by having them experience blackout.
Yoon Young-chul, the Director-General for Environment & Energy of Seoul City said that ICEI World Congress was a success thanks to the participants’ hard work and efforts in each area. He also asked students to participate in various events for sustainable climate environment, and become leaders who will lead next generation

ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability is the world-wide network of cities, towns, and metropolises for a sustainable future. It was held in Seoul for the first time in 25 years ever since it was founded in 1990. Over 3,000 people from 240 cities in 88 countries had discussed about the earth’s sustainable future. Seoul Declaration was adopted with supports from about 100 mayors of cities. Promise of Seoul, the specified actions that Seoul is going to take for sustainable future, will be delivered to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference [COP21] that will be held in Paris in coming December.

University students from Daejayon! You’re doing a great job. I would’ve participated in your actions every day together with you if I had more time. We can’t ignore anymore that the earth is sick. Many people forget about it right after watching documentaries about environment and don’t take any actions, not even wanting to be aware of it, but you do. You’re really excellent and I think you are truly nice earthmen. Please remember that I’m supporting you. When you feel hard, please be reminded that you are the only ones who will save the earth, and keep working hard.
