According to the Korea Energy Management Corporation (KEMCO), 23 out of 190 high energy consumption industries are universities. Energy consumption rate of universities increased by 84.7 percent from 2000 to 2007, and it is three times higher than that of Korea during the years.
As the result shows that the university students do not recognize the seriousness of climate change and recklessly produce greenhouses gases, it will possibly threaten the future of us and our children. To cope with the crisis of global warming, it is necessary for the students in universities—one of the high energy consumption industries—to take action against it.
Through Daejayon’s environmental education programs and campaigns, 2,500 university students in the world have become environmentalists. We are to let all university students of 20,000 campuses of the world know the crisis of climate change and to cope with global warming, the biggest threat to the survival of humanity.
Daejayon will continue to help the university students recognize the seriousness of climate change and dedicate themselves for the human beings suffering from climate disasters, and grow into good environmental leaders who can overcome the climate change crisis for the world.
