Tada! Here is Daemyeong Middle School that won the grand prize of a model school
for the environmental conservation in Gangnam-gu in 2013.
We are proud that Little Daejayon has been working steadily.
Today, we had quite special class.
We had an environmental forum under the subject 'Career Choice for Environment'.
There was experience activity first, before the environmental forum.
It was making eco-friendly insect repellent, which is suitable for the hot weather of todays.
Let me introduce the ingredients.
Prepare beakers, spoons, scales, lavender oil, teatree oil, solubiliser, menthol and napre(natural preservative).
First of all, put a beaker on a scale and set the scale at point"0".
Then, measure 50g of purified water and 1.5g of menthol.
Teacher is helping student to measure them. :)
Then, heat a beaker on a hot plate in low temperature until menthol melts.
When methol melts, put a thermometer in the beaker and cool it down until 104℉.
While it cools down,
add 2 drops of lavender oil and of teatree oil, 30 drops of solubiliser, and 3 drops of napre
into another beaker and stir it.
As soon as the temperature of the beaker reaches 104℉,
add 62 drops of ethanol.
Then, pour the liquid of another beaker slowly
and stir it.
Lastly, pour the liquid into the container.
Tada~ We made the Little Daejayon's eco-friendly insect repellent, which is not harmful to skin! :D

'Career Choice for Environment'
This is time to think what can we do for environment with each career that the students will choose in the future
and to share their ideas.
The teacher showed us some signs.
There are many fields of career,
but today we are going to talk about 5 jobs,
office worker, congressman, teacher, celebrity, and cook.
They chose a topic of discussion justly by the rock-scissors-paper.
Group 1 got 'celebrity'. :)
Then, let's discuss for presentation of forum!
Teachers helped each team to draw various ideas. :)
Hyeji helped the team who chose the difficult topic 'celebrity'.
The leader of group 1 looks comfortable
unlike when he picked the 'celebrity'. :)

The teachers were actively helping the discussion
to set its direction and broaden conversations! :D

Wow, the team who chose 'congressman' looks like real congressman.
The passion of Little Daejayon was so strong that we can even feel it through the photo! :D
It was so moving
that the students discussed enthusiastically for the environment :)
We are looking forward to the presentation. :)

Things that the students would do for the environment when they become congressman!
regulating the CO2 emission of large corporate with law
supporting departments developing renewable energy
accepting the climate refugees
obligating to plant trees after lumbering
supporting costs of buying electric cars
imposing additional tax to those who overuse water
supporting the corporates producing eco-friendly products
raising the payment of jobs for environment
etc.
The group member O-min proposed the ideas clearly like a real spokesperson of congress. :)
Then, let's move on to the team choosing cook!
cooking with organic vegetables
minimalizing the emission of CO2 occurring during transport by using local food
using eco-friendly detergent
using earthworms when disposing food waste
using tablecloth made of bean-oil recycled paper
purchasing ingredients after making a plan
etc.
These are the things that cooks can do for environment.
If all cooks have the eco-friendly mind,
it would be quite helpful to save the Earth. :D
The next group was for teacher :)
Things that teachers can do for the environment!
making environmental club
conducting Zero Leftover campaign
teaching students not to leave the leftover
giving a vacation assignment to search and present about the environment
volunteer work of cleaning up a park
selecting environmental class(the class that is the cleanest and thinks of environment most)
notifying the seriousness of pollution
donating unused products
etc.
The students thought that it is the role of teacher
to let the students realize the seriousness of environmental problems and practice for environmental protection.
PERFECT! :D
Although there is no photo,
the other groups also proposed good ideas!
'What can office worker do for the environment?'
producing the products helpful to environment
participating to Zero Leftover campaign at firm
decorating the office with eco-friendly products
making the one who wastes the most trash volunteer
'How about celebrity?'
promoting eco-friendly products by using it on TV
being honorary ambassador of environmental organization
bringing environmental phrase - promote it through paparazzi
participating to environmental event/activities
donating to environmental organization
leading their fans to use natural ingredients to make cheering tools
providing the fan who does the environmental movements most opportunity to meet him/her
doing some actions for environment on TV to encourage the viewers
What creative ideas! :D^^
The class ended successfully.
It looks so pretty that all students wore eco-friendly T-shirts they made last class :D
We gain strength from the students
who think of environment more and more as time goes by =]
We are sure that Little Daejayon will be a great person
who thinks of environment by himself
regardless of their careers
in the future!
