Last Saturday, we went to Al Wathba Wetland Reserve
which is Abu Dhabi's first protected wetland area!
It is a beautiful and natural landscape filled with vegetation and wildlife. :)
We were in awe with the vast number of diverse birds, the exotic fauna and flora that dwell there.
It was a lovely way to enjoy and discover the natural UAE and appreciate the environment. :)
We also learn more about the wetlands, sabkhas(salt flats),
fossilized sands and dunes that host more than 250 species of birds,
37 varieties of plants and an abundance of aquatic life.
The water of the pictures are all ground water!
We took a 3km stroll and experienced the pleasure of sight seeing flamingos,
and one fun fact is that there are more than 4,000 flamingos that live there!
It was the Mermaids In the Desert!
