In the spring festival first semester of Seoul National University (SNU),
DAEJAYON held the "Minimal Waste Festival, Enjoy with the Earth"
using multi-use containers instead of disposable ones.
With the support and active pariticipation of the students and faculty members,
we held the Minimal Waste Festival using multi-use containers
in the autumn festival from September 12 to 14. 😊
There were many food booths introducing foods from different countries.
Environmental pollution caused by disposable plastic containers
is a global problem, not only a problem in South Korea.
There is a huge island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that is 15 times the size of Korea.
It is Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also known as GPGP.
More than 80 percent of the island is plastic waste used and discarded around the world.
Known to have 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic in the island, it weighs about 80,000 tons.
It was a more meaningful autumn festival
to put food from various countries in the multi-use container rather than disposable ones,
and to practice environmental protection together beyond borders!
The autumn festival was held for three days in the sunny and rainy weather.
Many university students visited the DAEJAYON campaign booth
despite the hot autumn sunlight and the cool downpour.
Listening to the panel explanation on why we should reduce
the use of disposable containers and use multi-use containers,
it was a time to rethink the importance of using multi-use containers and tumblers
in festivals, daily life, and campus life.
Experience booth was held upcycling socks remnants into a flower keyring.
<Result of SNU Minimal Waste Autumn Festival>👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
