Do you know the formual 5+5=100 ?
It means 5 seconds to make plastic, 5 minutes to use and 500 years to decompose.
The first plastic was invented in 1868,
and still there is no plastic that has been naturally decomposed.

After the pandemic, offline festivals are increasing.
If a person uses 2.5 to 3 single-use products at a festival,
25 to 30 thousand single-use products are thrown away
at a festival of 10 thousand participants.

According to the report 'Plastic Korea'
One person uses 102 disposable plastic cups a year.
The length of 5.3 billion plastic cups used by the nation a year
is 1.5 times the length from the Earth to the moon.

DAEJAYON hosted the 'Minimal Waste Festival, Enjoy with the Earth'
with Seoul National University to respond to plastic problems and protect the earth.

Befor the festival began
we investigated the type of food booth and number of multi-use containers needed
and distributed the multi-use containers to the booths on the day of the festival.

The  students response to the mint colored multi-use container was good!
They said that they were happy to participate in protecting the global environment.

Students returned the used containers at the return boxes installed everywhere
and pressed the score button to check the number of disposable containers reduced
through the electronic display board

The DAEJAYON booth was one of the popular booth in the festival. 🥳

Through the panel explanation,
we informed the students and faculty members of the plactic waste problems
and the purpose of holding the festival using multi-use containers.

Also, we had an upcycling booths.
Upcycling is a combination of two words: upgrade and recycling.
It means to create a new produce of greater value.

We conducted an experiential activity to practice minimal waste using sock remnants.
sock remnants are made inevitably when making socks and it easily thrown away.

Aren't the flower keyring, hair band, and tea coaster
upcycled by colorful sock remnants beautiful?🌼🌸

DAEJAYON reduced 8,684 disposable containers
at the Seoul National University spring festival by using multi-use containers!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We will host the festival in the next semester, too!
Look forward to the 'Minimal Waste Festival, Enjoy with the Earth!'
