17. PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS

DAEJAYON and Environmental Club Association operated environment booth

at the second day of the festival!

On the second day, a banner on climate refugees were displayed.

Let's see the story of climate refugees introducted by

university student environmental activists of DAEJAYON.

BANGLADESH: A Poor but Happy Country

Now, Bangladesh is the most climate vulnerable country,

ranking seventh in the world in the risk of natural disasters.

Due to the rising sea levels, 1,056,000 hectares of land have been submerged (2009),

and the soil salinity is 53%.

15 to 30 million people are in danger of migrating from the coast.

Bangladesh, which emits very little carbon dioxide, is burdened with poverty

and climate disasters because of greenhouse gases emitted by someone else.

Sea level rise due to greenhouse gases and global warming

is causing climate refugees, who lose their homes and lives.

AFRICA: A Wide Meadow that Embraces All the Living

Africa is getting hotter every year due to the rising global temperatures

caused by excessive greenhouse gas emissions.

The continuous droughts in Africa

force humans as well as animals to move in search of water and food.

People who live together, sharing abundant nature,

are constantly wary of each other and suffer from extreme thirst due to the lack of water.

After listening to the story of climate refugees and solving quiz from the roller,

students could compare the peaceful nature of Earth

and the Earth suffering from climate crisis.

Next to the panel explanation, there was an eco braclete upcycling booth.

Unused promotion posters and magazines are thrown away when time passes.

You can make pretty upcycled bracelets using those posters and magazines.

Ta-da! The bracelet was made with a strap and rolled used poster!

Afternoon came on a sunny day!

The most popular booth was the making Jul smoothie by electric bicycle. :)

It is a smoothie made with a recipe recommended by Julian, an entertainer from Belgium,

practicing vegan in daily life.

It is a delicious and nutritious smoothie with blueberries, bananas, and pumpkin seeds!

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

When you pedal bicycles energy is generated and the mixer operates.

The participants said that pedaling the bicycle is good for the health

and the smoothie tastes more delicious becauese it is made by one's effort.

It was a time to experience that it is not easy to make even a small amount of energy.

The students pledged to save energy by using only the necessary energy in daily life.

This is the environmental club Banggsa booth!

They introduced vegan drinks and snacks, there was even mealworm snack (alternative food)!

It was a unique and unusal vegan food experience. :)

Let's Save Our Earth While Eating!

83% of the world's agricultural land is used to feed livestock.

It is estimated that if the cultivation of livestock feed crops is stopped,

the area can naturally return to wooded forests is about 7 million square kilometers.

The amount of greenhouse gas emitted by livestock breeding is also very high,

so it would be important to have a healthy diet for Net Zero and the Earth.

See you again! :)
