Here is Sikatuna Village, a slum of Quezon City, Philippine.
Daejayon had been dispatched to here in order to conduct “Clean-up Campaign.”
Sikatuna Village is a slum.
Residents of Sikatuna Village are quite large, but its environment isn’t cleaned up.
So Daejayon planned “Clean-up Campaign.”
Today’s “Clean-up Campaign” proceeded meaningfully with Daejayon dispatched from Korea and members from University of Philippines.
This clean-up campaign has to be allowed by Quezon City Hall.
So, we visited the office responsible for the Sikatuna Village and carried it out after getting permission.
Do you see that much trash?
However! We Daejayon and members of University of Philippines kept cleaning up with positive feelings, saying “thanks to rain, it’s good because dust doesn’t blow up.”
Do you see members’ faces filled with smile?
While we were cleaning up the street, citizens watched us, carrying out clean-up campaign in rain with curious eyes. However, citizens, one by one, joined the campaign together.
How nice it is. The more participants joined, the more meaningful environmental activity is.
Children also picked up the trash and threw it into trash bags and joined us until the campaign was over. Carrying the clean-up campaign out with residents together, it’s done earlier than we expected.
Can you see the picture below? Can you believe it was the very road which you’ve seen above?
We didn’t expect that residents would join us, when planning the clean-up campaign.
However, Daejayon’s small movement led their voluntary participation.
Once again, we could figure out “Amazing Strength” belonging to “One Small Practice” through this time. It’s happier today, being together.
