Introduction of Green World

Daejayon 40 members in the Gyeongnam area have explored the Nakdong River into two days and one night course. This Event was organized by Nakdongriver Environmental Management Office and hosted by Ulsan, Gyeongnam-Environmental Preservation Association.

Daejayon had attended the lectures on the Nakdong River.
It is the Korea's second longest river after the Amnok River.
Particularly, Nakdong River is called the arteries of the modernization and industrialization of Korea.
It always been considered important.

The flora of the Nakdong River is different depends on the basin. The upper stream and midstream has some broad-leaved forest and southern deciduous forest. The downstream has laural forest.

Typical temperate species of trees are coniferous tree such as Korean pine, Korean fir, Pine, and Juniperus rigida and broadleaf tree such as Platycarya strobilacea, Betula schmidtii, Quercus dentate, Quercus acutissima, and Zelkova serrate. According to a research of flora of the mouth of the Nakdong River, total 151 family 910 species of plants are distributed.

Nakdong River is well known for its migratory birds at the mouth of the river.
Reed beds and sandbars stretched around the mouth of the river is the largest habitat in Asia for migratory birds. It is designated as a natural monument number 179.

Unlike other rivers, the mouth of the river is a wide delta plain.
It has an abundant wild bird-food such as plankton, mollusks, crustaceans, small fish, and many other algae breeding. The reason is that the water is shallow and it is the place where seawater and freshwater are crossing.

However, various pollutants emitted from industrial parks around Busan, influx of domestic wastewater, and artificial overfishing has caused the rapid decrease of the number of migratory birds. In addition, the habitat for migratory birds is becoming smaller and smaller because of the construction of Nakdong River estuary dam.

Nakdong River is filled with a variety of natural resources, animals and plants.

This expedition was the great opportunity for Daejayon to feel a lot of things and to inform many things.
