Here is the Jakarta 12th Benhill National Elementary School, and it signed Green School MOU with Daejayon on the last summer.
Daejayon visited the school again on the last December 23rd for the 2nd Green School class.
Today, 59 dreamers have joined the class.
And we had an environmental class under the title of “No Leftovers.”

Can you guess what it’s about?
Do you normally eat all your foods on your plates?
How much can it be the annual amount of the foods we left without eating?
In Indonesia, around 45,000 tons a day and 16,700,000 an year of foods are thrown.
When we come to calculate this total amount of foods into economic wealth, it becomes 89,474,000,000 Won, the Korean Currency.
It’s enormous!! It’s the same amount of annual vehicle export of Korea.

Though this time, Daejayon taught the importance of “No Leftovers” on our nature.
When we leave less food, we can serve two ends, the environment and also the economy.
The reason for this is on the disposal process of the food waste.
Having landfill, incinerating and making fodder and compost can be the ways of dealing with the food waste.
But none of these methods can effectively deal with the food waste.
When food waste becomes reclaimed, many kinds of vermin and pathogenic bacteria are raised, and also leachate of food waste creates contamination of soil, subsurface water and surface water.

Look at the sincere and serious faces of the students.

The food waste contains much moisture, and it brings the low effectiveness of the incineration.
Moisture hinders the burning.
And the worse of it is that endocrine-disrupting chemicals and cancer genic substance like dioxin come out while incinerating.
All these clearly prove that leftover, the food waste, is not at all good for the nature.

Therefore, We, Little Daejayon, first participate in the “No Leftovers” habit for the better example of the world. Such passionate students!!

They are definitely future global environment leaders.
The presentation was feature with the film “The Most Miserable Monster of the World” for the better understanding on the food waste.
Let us not leave the food.
It’s the first step of the environmentalists.
And I believe you will start it from today. No leftovers.
