ESTABLISHMENT OF GREEN SCHOOL

On 25th July, 2012, Daejayon Green School Eco-League Awards Ceremony was held.
Eco-League is a kind of competition where students make a presentation on their environmental activities to be chosen as the excellent case. 

The Eco-League was sponsored by Indonesia Ministry of Environment and the Jakarta City hall.
10 teams went to the finals after the preliminaries of elementary, middle and high school students in Indonesia.

In the case of Indonesia Green School, environmental programs were well organized just like Daejayon Green School programs.
In Indonesia, students become familiar with environment by building eco-friendly facilities in school instead of just teaching the importance of environment.

For example, school makes students raise a vegetable garden themselves in school or Biopori.
(Biopori is a small tunnel in healthy soil and it enhances the soil’s ground water and oxygen retention capacity.
It prevents floods and droughts and reduces greenhouse gases.)
So Daejayon held “Eco-League” to encourage students and schools who did environmental activities hard and to progress the joint activities by establishing Green School network.

 

The award was attended by Ilyas Assad Indonesian vice minister of Environment, Sukesti Martono Jakarta Deputy Mayor, Taufik Yudi Director of Education Department Jakarta City Hall, Department of Education officials and the Ministry of Environment officials and School principals.
And our hero, young environmentalist of Indonesia also participated in Eco-League.

First, Kim Yong-gap president of Daejayon gave an opening address.

 

And Jakarta Deputy Mayor gave a congratulatory speech.

 

 

And the director of Education Department of Jakarta City Hall gave a greeting message. The director encouraged Eco-League program, saying “In here, please share great activities with the competition in good faith and have a lot of talking about environment, Green School and climate change.”

 

 

Now, shall we go to the hot competition stage of “Green School?” Let’s Go!

 

 

 

Look at her bright eyes! Her expectation of the awards is reflected in her eyes.

  

There were Eco-League examiners from Daejayon. Creativity, ripple effect, effectiveness and co-operation were the evaluation standards and the selected cases will be used for environmental activities. So let’s hear the presentations of students.

 

 

Students in Indonesia have been doing various activities.
They hold contest about environment of class room and have a special activity for environmental practice.

 

 

 

This student was listening carefully, taking notes.
Like the purpose of Eco-League, students could share good cases of environmental activities each other and practice it in their schools.

 

 

The student is Michael from Jakarta 34 National High School.
Michael said his thought about Eco-League and Green School of Daejayon, “I’m proud that there is an organization like Daejayon. I think Daejayon vitalize our environment.”

 

 

Two pretty students gave a presentation.

Beristaff, the student of Bogor 1 National High School, said “I hope that our school to be a global role model of Green School. I’d like to this kind of events of Daejayon would be held more often especially in Indonesia.”

 

 

Finally!! The Awards ceremony began.

  

They are our environmental leaders who are going to lead activities of Green School in Indonesia.
We hope activities of environmental leaders to be more actively done through the awards.

 

There were awards for schools which had done excellent environmental activities as well.
Jakarta 77 National High School, Medan 1 National High School, Jakarta 34 National High School received the awards.

We took a commemorative photograph with winners.

 

 

We encourage and applaud to activities of students to make Green Indonesia!
Daejayon will participate in making Green Indonesia through activities of Green School and Green Campus.
Green Wave will be full of Indonesia!
