Today we conducted a campaign at Bundang Centeral Park under the theme "Zero Waste,"

which is designed to let citizens know how daily disposable products affect the environment.

First, we had a survey on disposable waste people used and their acts of environment today.

The survey showed that many people use a lot of paper and plastic cups,

but for the environment, they used public transportation and stairs instead of elevators.

After the survey we explained about disposable wastes, and its impact on the environment,

and what we can do for the environment.

Only in Korea,

23 billion paper cups and 2.5 billion wooden chopsticks are released into trash each year.

Plastic cups, plastic bags, straws, and wet tissues that contain plastic

are common to us in our daily lives, but they take 500 years to decompose.

We must recognize that the use of disposable products

have a huge negative impact on the environment.

It's was a short activity, but a lot of citizens participated,

and some of them were actually working for the environment.

We felt that lots of people are going the same way with us,

and the more people are together, the cleaner the environment will be.

There is an organization that is currently working in order to ban plastic bags.

It has branches in 25 countries around the world,

and is working closely with the United Nations to help protect the environment.

It is 'Bye Bye Plastic Bag(BBPB)' is an NGO founded by two sisters from Bali, Indonesia.

It looks like a big deal, but they started to take avtion when they were 12 and 10 years old.

You don't have to think so diffcult, using disposable products are something anyone can do.

Knowledge is the source of change.

It's not hard to get started.
