On March 21st, our team I.DO visited an elementary school in AlAin city

that made a planting of “Alghaf tree” event for tolerance year.

2019 is named “the tolerance year” in UAE and Alghaf tree is the main symbol for this year.

Alghaf tree is a native representative of United Arab Emirates.

 It is a base important part of sustainable development strategy in UAE and represents its culture!

It is a rare tree that is exiting in UAE,

it tolerates the weather in deserts ( the maximum heat and dryness levels) and adapts to it.

The roots of Alghaf tree goes to nearly 50m into the soil/ground

and the tree lasts for more than hundred years.
Alghaf tree has industrial and edible benefits, too!

Specialists agree that this tree is the best for planting deserts

because of how it tolerates the rough weather,

it controls moving sand dunes as well as blocks strong wind.

The founder of UAE Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan advised on protecting

and taking care of this tree and prevented cutting it down.

Therefore, our team visited the event to observe

the planting of an important tree to the UAE environment and link it to sustainable topics.

We also made a quick interview with the teachers there

to seek information about how this event will have an effect of

environmental aspects and sustainable thoughts on children.

And we learned from them that it represents 30% of UAE's agriculture.
