"GIBOOK & TAKE" Book Free Zone

is hosted by DAEJAYON,  Seoul National University, KAIST, Korea University,

University of Seoul and Sookmyung Women's University

and supported by Seoul Metropolitan City, Citizen's Green Seoul Committee,

including publishing house YES24 and Crayonbook.

It is a green campus book circulation bookshelf,

where college students can donate books they no more read and take books that they need.

We installed a polar bear bookshelf at the book free zone

at the 3 floor of the student union building, University of Seoul

with environmental club "Palette," following Seoul National University and KAIST.

We can also see the JAYONIE bookmark. :)

We placed sanitizers to disinfect book covers after filling the book circulation list.

We hope the book circulation list will be fully filled

with the active participation of students from University of Seoul!

After finishing the GIBOOK & TAKE Book Free Zone in University of Seoul,

we moved to the 2nd floor of Queen Sunheon Building at Sookmyung Women's University.

With the students of Green Snow,

we classified and organized the books donated by YES24 and Crayonbook.

Thanks to the students of Green Snow, who carefully organized the height of the books,

the polar bear bookshelf was filled nice and pretty.

The polar bear bookshelf, for the green campus book circulation, is completed.

The bookshelf sends us a message of polar bears that are endangered due to global warming.

What impact does the book free zone have to the environment?

When we circulate a 700 page book, we can save paper and reduce about 1.645KgCO2.

We hope the GIBOOK & TAKE Book Free Zone is activated

and the students of Sookmyung Women's University will join to build green campus.

We also installed reusable paper collecting box for the use of scrap paper.

College students use A4 papers to print lecture notes or to study for tests.

The annual average paper usage in South Korea is 180kg in 2017.

It is 36,000 papers when converted to A4 papers.

14.4 boxes, with a box of 2,500 papers and 435,600 won, which is about $372.

(1 box=30,250 won, New Xerox A4 75gsm)

If you put scrap papers in the reusable paper collecting box,

Green Snow students will make and distribute scrap paper notes.

Please use the reusable paper collecting box along with the book free zone!
