GREEN CAMPUS ACTIVITY

"Civil Debate to Reduce a Nuclear Power Plant" was held in Small and Medium Business Building at 16th April and more than four hundred people attended.
Reducing a Nuclear Power Plant is a policy of the Seoul City. The policy is to save the two million TOE (Ton of Oil Equivalent) of energy consumption until 2014 year. TOE is a unit of energy defined by IEA (International Energy Agency).
Do you know that energy equal to climate change? Due to climate change, we use a lot of energy and it makes climate change faster. Therefore, energy saving and global warming is closely related. 

 



 

Today’s role of Daejayon was to debate green management in university and to present it. 

 

  

Twenty two leaders attended in the discussion, and we presented the results.

 

 

 

Daejayon members practiced a mind-map for brain storming with the topic of “how could Green Campus be established?”

 

 

Especially, participants could lift the big thumb up if they agree.

 

 

The discussion and the hall were filled with the green waves of Daejayon.
In addition, this debate was broadcast live and Daejayon was appeared most of the scenes.

 

 

 

The solution of Daejayon is “to establish Seoul Green Campus Council” led by university students.
To this day, there were few environmental movements which were led by university students and
no environmental network among university students as well.
Therefore, through this council, students of Daejayon would become main characters in Green Campus!

 

 

Today, there was an important event. It is a flash performance by Daejayon members.

 

 

Many people gave an exclamation of joy during the performance.

 

 

This is a logo of Seoul. In order to make this beautiful performance,

 

 

Daejayon members had made an enormous effort. They put on black clothes from head to toe. They tried hard to do the flash performance.

 

 

Daejayon suggested a plan for establishing Green Campus.
The model of Green Campus that was suggested by Daejayon was “3T5G.”

 

3T means Think Green
               Touch Green
               Talk Green

 

5G means, Green Management
                Green Education
                Green Infrastructure
                Green Practice
                Green Check.

 

In fact, university is not only producing global environmental leaders but consuming a great deal of energy. Therefore, Green Campus is a good movement for reducing a nuclear power plant.

Today’s another big event!

Seoul mayor, Park Won-soon said that “I will elect a citizen mayor who will work with me from now on.” Who will be the one?

 

 

She is Kim Eui-in, a Daejayon member.

Kim Eui-in became a Seoul Citizen Mayor for a day.
It was an unforgettable that the loud shout and applause from Daejayon members in that day.

 

 

 

Daejayon students presented a natural soap and natural air fresher to the mayor.
