GREEN CAMPUS ACTIVITY

On July 28th, 2011, Daejayon Overseas Delegation visited Environment Department of Berlin City.

2011 Summer Daejayon Overseas Delegation went to Berlin for the cooperation system and network construction of university students between member states of C40.
Today, among many activities, Daejayon visited the city hall and held a seminar with the officers of Environment Department of Berlin City.
Don’t you wonder what Berlin does for the environment?
Germany loves nature. They even set their national aim to preserve their environment.
And Germany works on hard especially on the field of recycling, mass transportation and architectures.
Berlin conducts all these policies under the command of Environmental Office and Federal Environment Agency.
And Germany has an excellent civil system and network which not only Government but also citizens all can join many environmental activities.

Many officers from Environment Department joined today’s meeting.
Daejayon held a seminar, and it was attended by Dr. Romanski, Environment Manager of Technical University of Berlin (TU), Dr. Hoftman, Environment Manager of Humboldt University of Berlin (HU), and Dr. Potsca, C40 Manager of Environment Department of Berlin City.
First, Dr. Potsca, through his presentation, introduced us about the environmental policies that have been implemented in the Berlin City.

The main environment policies of Berlin City are followed;
1. Planning activities of energy production using solar power.
2. Practicing energy savings through operating Heating System during night time which consumes less energy compared to day time.
3. Proceeding environment conservation and energy saving activities with the mass energy consumed society like IT Corporation, gasoline industry, hospitals and so on.
4. Expanding greenbelt through continuous planting activity.

Actually, there’re more. Their love toward the nature is truly endless!
Germany works on various environmental conservation fields including noise, water and air pollutions and natural landscape, recycling and renewable energy etc.
They are really great.

After the presentation, Daejayon questioned many things and the answers were followed.
Daejayon asked questions especially on the eco-friendly constructions which Germany has specialty on. And also Daejayon wanted to know about the environmental policies or programs of Berlin for campuses.
And then, Jung Su-jin, a member of Daejayon, introduced about the purpose of establishment of Daejayon and its various programs.

And also, through the Daejayon Report, Daejayon-made presentation, students sent their messages on their motivation for environmental activities and the seriousness of climate change.
All the officers, during the whole hours of meeting, showed their great interest on Daejayon’s student-made activities. And they gave a great support on the activities for Green Campus.
This summer, Daejayon will hold the Green Campus Environment Forum in the Technical University of Berlin (TU).

Many professors and participants showed their great enthusiasm toward Daejayon and wished to join many other activities.
And at the end, Daejayon took photos in front of city hall and delivered the gift to Berlin City.
Soon after, Daejayon and Berlin City will have much conversation for the further cooperation not only on the field of Green Campus, but also on many other environmental fields.

The country where loves the nature.
The city where loves to work for the nature.
And this was Daejayon who are very excited to work with Berlin more and sooner.
