The 'Youth Policy Forum for Carbon Neutral Campus 2040' was held at DDP Seoul-On studio.
Ahead of the 20th presidential election,
a public forum has been set up for university students to express their opinions
on establishing policies for the carbon neutral campus to cope with climate change!
This event was co-hosted by Korea Sustainable Campus Association,
International Environmental Organization DAEJAYON,
YLPF Korea, and Korea Youth Platforms on SDGs.
Along with Yang Yi-wonyoung, member of the National Assembly of the Minjoo Party,
and Park Hang-joo, Deputy General Manager of Justice party
and six university student representatives participated at the forum
and 100 university students joined online, showing their enthusiasm.
The policy proposed at the policy debate on this day are as follows.
△ Additional enactment of the Framework Act On Carbon Neutrality
in the University sector (sustainable campus)
△ National budget support (Ministry of Environment)
for the establishment of a carbon neutralization system
△ Support for the construction of an education platform
for all Korean university students to receive carbon neutral education
△ National support for the creation of a culture
of university student participating-carbon neutral campus
△ Promote "Campus RE100" for activating the use of renewable energy in the university
△ Establishment of institutional basic condition for achieving the carbon neutral campus
The policymakers took opinions from universities students and expressed their intention
to actively support the proposals to be reflected in the policy to make a carbon neutral campus,
and supported universities students' climate crisis response activities!
The policy proposal to play a leading role in the transition of universities to carbon neutrality
and contribute to the realization of the 2040 Carbon Neutral Campus
will be delivered to the presidential candidate camp through each party's policy maker.
